Soon after Emonie aged out of the foster system, she also became a mother. While she dreamed of getting braces and a procedure to help her gums, these services weren’t covered under her state’s insurance plan. So getting dental care for herself would require Emonie to work crazy overtime hours, which she wasn’t willing to do with a baby at home.

That’s when Emonie reached out to Dream Makers for help. Your incredible generosity allowed her to get the dental care she needed without sacrificing time with her son.

“My goal is to be better for my son than anyone was for me. Getting my dream fulfilled gave me hope that I will be able to financially care for him and myself.”

Now Emonie is working at a cafe and attending her local community college to get her GED with plans to one day become a Certified Nurse Assistant. She is grateful that her journey has given her the chance to build empathy and now wants to support other youth who age out.
