Brandon

After four years in foster care, Brandon found a loving home with a single adoptive mother, only to lose her to cancer. Despite this devastating loss, he remained determined to thrive, juggling school and work to make ends meet.

“The uncertainty was the hardest part. Not knowing if I could afford college or where I would live was always on my mind, but I tried to keep my focus on the future.”

Brandon’s commitment to excellence and hard work was evident in his perfect attendance record as an employee at McDonald’s. His dream was to bring that same dedication to the University of Michigan-Flint’s Radiology Therapy program.

Healthcare is not only Brandon’s passion, but his life experiences make it a natural fit: “Caring for my adoptive mom taught me the immeasurable value of compassion, and I’m familiar with the practical aspects of medical care, like oxygen and mobility devices.”

Thanks to your incredible generosity, Brandon received a computer, clothing, and some dorm room essentials—everything he needed to begin school this fall.

His response is gratitude and a renewed excitement for what’s ahead: “Having the kind of help you give makes such a difference. I cannot thank you enough for your kindness.”
